July 2010 News

Dear BEFC Family,

Summer is here, and that means camping, vacations and trips. We haven’t gone on vacation at BEFC, so this newsletter is your chance to stay informed about what is happening in your church family. By the way, if you are getting this via email and regular mail (or would like to get it by email), contact the church office (officebf@paulbunyan.net)  so we can be good stewards of the Lord’s resources.

Library Weed and Feed Paula Erickson has taken on the task of updating and reorganizing our church library. She has weeded out some books that are available for the taking; they are on a table in the fellowship hall. If you have books that would be a good addition to the Library, contact Paula to donate them.

The Word For You Today. In May this devotional resource was made available to us on a trial basis. If you picked one up, did you like it? Would it be something you would use on a regular basis? We need your feedback to determine if we want to make these booklets available (they will cost the church $1.50/copy). Send an email (befree@paulbunyan.net) or contact me this week with your input.

Finances. What would summer be without a reminder to keep on giving faithfully to keep the work of BEFC going? Our budget giving is tight right now. We are trusting God to faithfully supply all of our needs.

Golf By popular demand the 2nd annual BEFC Golf Follies and Potluck will be held on Sunday, August 15 at the Blackduck Golf Course. Golf will start at 2 pm, with a cook out and games to follow. Non-golfers are welcome.

Summer Sunday School To give our faithful teachers a summer break, we are asking for volunteers to lead one of two children’s Sunday School classes this summer for a week or two. A video curriculum (with a leader’s guide) is available for you to use, or you can devise your own lesson. Contact Vonnie Wernberg (lvwern@blackduck.net or 835-6307) for more information, or sign up on the bulletin board.

Building Fund Updates (Coin Jug and Auction) The full coin jug brought in $1292.68! I appreciate Dennis’ skill with the clippers in giving me a fine haircut. We are waiting on the final total from the auction proceeds. Thanks to all who gave to these projects!

Baptism Service The Deacons are planning a baptism service for August 8 at Webster Lake. If you are interested in being baptized, contact me for more information.

Nursery Helpers There is still a need for additional volunteers to help in the nursery during the morning worship hour. Contact our new nursery coordinator Sherry Nord (835-8990 or sherrynord@gmail.com) to volunteer.

Dlbc Kitchen Help Days Our Bible Camp (Deeper Life) depends on many volunteers to carry on the camping ministry and to keep costs down for campers. One of the ways you can help is by volunteering in the kitchen. Volunteers are needed starting at 9 am for as long as they can stay. BEFC is scheduled to help on July 16 and 29. If you can’t make it those days, you are welcome to come out at any time to help. DLBC is located 3 miles east of Blackduck on N. Blackduck Lake Road.

The Story This fall I would like to invite you to go on an adventure through the entire Bible Story. We will be using a resource entitled The Story, a condensed chronological Bible. In our church-wide journey through it we will discover the big story of God seeking a relationship with humankind, and how our story and experiences are put into the context of God’s long range plan. I am especially excited about this opportunity, because it will involve the entire church (students and adults) journeying through the Bible together. You will be hearing more about this in the coming weeks. Please pray that this venture will increase our love for the Lord and our neighbor as we gain a greater understanding of God’s plans and purposes.

Stay Connected This Summer The church website (www.befreechurch.com) and Facebook page will be updated weekly with all the latest news from BEFC.

Blessings

Pastor Dwight
