Dear BEFC Church Family,

Fall is here and that means there are lots of activities and events you should be aware of as part of the BEFC Church Family.

Fall Craft Sale The community craft sale will be November 14th this year. Last year’s effort was a huge success raising almost $1000 for our building fund. We are planning to have a booth again and are encouraging everyone to make, bake, or sew for this fund raiser. The only item we can’t sell are pies. Contact Pat Addler (243-2487 orvacation@crlodge.com) for more details.

Thanksgiving Service On Sunday, Nov. 22 we are going to give the service over to you to share with the BEFC community your blessings. We’ll have an open mic, lots of Thanksgiving songs and a couple of surprises along the way. This service is always a highlight of the year, so make plans to join us.

Community Thanksgiving Service and Choir The Blackduck Community Thanksgiving service will be held on Tuesday, November 24 at 7:30 pm in the school multi-purpose room. An offering for the Blackduck Food Shelf will be taken. A community choir is rehearsing on Sunday evenings at Zion Lutheran starting at 7 pm.

Global Fingerprints Our Sunday School and Adult Bible Class is sponsoring Irene Mabenga, a three year old orphan in the Democratic Republic of Congo through the EFCA’s GlobalFingerprints ministry. Each month the first $25 of the Sunday School offering will be used to help provide food, medicine, clothing and school supplies for Irene. Watch for updates about Irene as we develop this sponsorship relationship.

Cancellations You know it is coming—bad weather. If we have to cancel activities we will work hard to get the word out. We will use the prayer chain, email, the website, and the church answering machine, as well as local radio. On Wednesdays, we will make announcements at the school. If you want to be contacted by a text message, text your cell phone number to 218-556-2868.

Video Library Sick of having 100+ channels and nothing on? There is a great video library in my office—24 Nooma videos (the Rob Bell series that the small group used) and a wide variety of Ron Carlson’s videos (he was our speaker at our most recent Bible Conference). See me to check one or two out.

Our Cup Runneth Over Your loose change can make a huge difference in our church building program. An empty water jug will be in the foyer for everyone to participate in an ongoing way in our building fund. Help us reach our goal of having $150,000 by June 2010!

Youth Group Food You can minister to our students by helping with snacks and food for youth group. Contact Michelle Wallin to see how you can help.

Email Change The BEFC emails have changed from blackduck.net to paulbunyan.net. Please make note of this change.

Christmas Events Just so you can start to plan, remember the Cookie Walk on Saturday, December 5th. The Sunday School Christmas Program will be presented at 4 pm on December 20th with a potluck to follow. Our Christmas Eve service will be at 5:30 on the 24th.

Community Meal The Presbyterian Church will be hosting a community meal on the third Monday of each month from 5:30 to 7:00. The meal is free of charge and available to anyone who wishes to attend. The first meal will be on Monday, Nov. 16.

befreechurch.com The front page of the church website has been redesigned to list the upcoming events of the week on the home page. Check out “Dwight’s Blog” for a deeper treatment of the previous Sunday’s message.

25th Anniversary Party She thought I was too weird. I thought she was too wild. But the Lord worked in strange and mysterious ways and somehow we made it through 25 years. Our children would like to invite you to come celebrate with us as we give thanks to the Lord for 25 years of marriage on Saturday, November 28 from 2-4 pm at BEFC. No gifts, please.

Yours for the Kingdom

Pastor Dwight
