Happy Friday church family!
Sunday morning marks the end of Daylight “Saving” Time – the clocks go back an hour overnight, and we all suffer for a week. 😊 Good news is if you forget to set your clocks, you’ll come to service just in time for Adult Bible Study at 9!
It seems crazy to me that somehow we thought we could increase or decrease the light that the Father has given, simply by changing the names we have given to the times to mark out the passing of a day. God has set the days and has numbered them for each one of us - He established the rotations and the seasons. That said, it is pretty amazing how quickly we lose daylight here in the Northland. According to Google, we have lost 3 ¼ hours of daylight since September 1st – in just two months! As much as I love the winter, it has a lot of darkness and gloom – no Daylight “Saving” is going to help us there.
I’m afraid the darkness and gloom reflects the direction of our world as well. There is less light day by day – but be encouraged. The darkness cannot overcome the light; the LORD and His light will prevail. And as we saw a few weeks ago in our message in Matthew 5, we are the light of the world – tasked to reflect God’s light into the darkness – in people’s lives, in our communities, in our nation. And as the days are waning, we need to keep busy with sharing this light! As Jesus said (John 9:4) “As long as it is day, we must do the works of Him who sent Me. Night is coming…” So while the daylight remains, let’s share the gospel message to all that salvation is found in Jesus. That’s some Daylight Saving I can get excited about!

“But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; who once were not a people but are now the people of God, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy.” 1 Peter 3:9-10 NKJV
